W's (early) Birthday Party

(Craft paper on table with crayons & a few birthday wishes. One girlie commented "This is a great activity!")

Normally, at our home, birthday's are celebrated on the actual date. However this year, we celebrated W's 6th bday this weekend, with his school friends. This little group has done so well together over the year and it's sad that they are all parting ways next week. So, in order for W to have one last hurrah with his buddies, we celebrated his birthday today.
(The happy bday boy with his cupcake-cake!)
The Fire station theme was a hit! We toured our local fire station and the staff there were fantastic. The kiddos loved being able to sit in the trucks, hold the hose, lay on the stretcher, etc, etc. Well worth the effort! So cute to see these little ones enthralled with all the fireman and equipment!
(Did I take pictures at the station? No! That would make too much sense. In fact I didn't even take my camera along! And as you can tell used my IPOD all day. Uh...charge the battery? Oops!)

Next it was home for a rockin' game of pin the hat on the dalmatian. Which I free-handed by the way...and I am NOT an artist. The kids loved it! They were cheering each other on and Bup was too cute trying to pin the hat to the cubby. I'm just thrilled that he participated!
After a hip swinging crazy frog, dance party..."Stop Drop and Roll" style...it was meal time. W was so wanting to tear into his presents and eating was the last thing on his mind, yet he managed to eat a little, huff n puff on the candles& allow us to sing (wuhoo!!! this is a FIRST for our sound sensitive guy. Did I mention that he helped himself to ear plugs at the Fire Station?!)

Now, they are fast asleep, the house looks like a bomb went off, there is frosting in R's hair (how does THAT happen?), and I need to get at it!
(The birthday table AFTER lunch & cake...notice the eyeball? ~ Bomb, I say.)

Next time, I'm planning a birthday party with 8 kids all with special needs, please remind me to include another adult! I didn't lose anyone in the pond or at the fire station, but...it was a little loud and crazy at times!

(BirthdayW & R in their ugly teeth...courtesy of the loot bags. Notice W's 6 shirt? Appliqued my moi. It's kind of a tradition now. I was too procrastination-ish to create an R one for Bup...ah well... )

Pre-school Birthday

What a wonderful, thoughtful teacher! Since W has a summer birthday, Mrs. J celebrated his birthday at pre-school today. The celebration included a special birthday crown, a gift, designated snack guy and show'n'tell. Of course, W brought safe birthday cupcakes for everyone. Star Wars themed. This child is Star Wars crazy right now. Craaaaazeee!
Which by the way, is not ideal, but what do you do? No, he's not watching the movies. No he doesn't really own any Star Wars toys, just a sticker book and Lego Visual Dictionary, which was the show & tell item, as well as coloring pages for each child.
All the little boys were thrilled! The girls? Probably just happy to get their cake and go home!

Baby Bup is 3!"

Three I say. Three. How can this be?
He's loving being three. "I'm free!"
What has three brought so far?
- attempting toilet-training..."I don't like the toiyet. I cared." But he sure likes "mackpack" of Toy Story underwear and the stickers and high fives he earns!
- new sayings like, "I just kidding. I say Stu not stupid. Oh, that's nice. Yook at that cool car. Oooooo...pooky ghost. I ghost. and the cuteness goes on...."
- wearing a size 5. Yikes! He's shorter than his older brother but that's it.
- pedaling a tricyle....running and dragging the scooter behind him
- loving the garden...likes to see the "wormans" (thank you Backyardigans)
- movie/TV tastes? Carebears, Backyardigans, Iron Giant, Wonder Pets, Super Why, etc
- books...any & all
- music....the ABC song, Twinkle, Twinkle and "Pum" ( The Little Drummer Boy....gawd I am tired of that song!)
- sporting an Astro Boy hairstyle and only cried at the end of the appointment because he thinks they are going to cut him. "Don't (sob) cut (sob) me (sob)!"
- still loves to "wuggle" and especially when there is a "kiki" (blanket) involved...likes to hold the corner of his kiki in his hands while he is falling asleep, Oh & remember to keep the door open, even if just a crack...took his smart parents months to figure this out.
- foodie.....lots. carboholic...cucumbers...broccoli....fruit....steak....circle toast....and anything contraband.
- dislikes....having his hair washed, combed, face washed, having to drink from a glass, and listening to his mother.
- favorites....anything his brother has done first..."don't copy me Bup!"
- and is just do darn cute and edible I can hardly stand it. Mr. 3.

Green & Lovin' Him

Our little man requested a green birthday with five cakes. Who are we to deny this blue-eyed boy's request?
Today, we had a little party for our little man. It was just the right size for an almost three year old. Not to mention for his parents as well! Birthday parties are busy, fun, exciting, and tiring.
Bup's highlight was blowing out the candles. "More fire, please." They were relit many times and finally the cake was consumed until all five have disappeared.

Mr. 4 yrs Old.

W is four! After weeks of waking every morning, to ask, "Mom, am I four yet?" Or comments such as "I'm working on turning 4!", the grand moment has finally come.

On the day we celebrated W's fourth, I had to wake him up and coax him out of bed. His little eyes would not open, and he turned his back to me until I whispered, "W, you're four today."

He then sat bolt upright, threw his arms high in the air and declared,"Yay!! I'm FOUR!!"
A morning at the Zoo with two friends, some special monster truck gifts, and a (gluten-free, sugar-free, chocolate-free....now, tell me that sounds divine?!) Chocolate Almond Monster Truck Cake singing a quiet, whispered Happy Birthday wrapped up the festivities. It was a super day. A great way to start off being 4.

Of course, it amazes me that my little 10lb, snugly babe is four years old. So much has happened and yet there is so much more to come. I wish for the little man the very best life has to offer: Acceptance, love, humor, accomplishment, prosperity and more love. Those are tall orders for a just turned four fella aren't they? That's okay. Everyone wants the best for their child, regardless of age, and I am not exception to the rule.
We, my Favorite Husband, and I will keep right on loving, documenting and enjoying this year of 4. The crazy-loco, wonder-what-will-happen-next antics of our Wonder Boy, Mr. 4.

Birthday Bup - 2yrs!

Mr. Two Yrs Old. Wow!

And it's like the light switch of 2 was turned on. He is now clearly willing to express his temperament, willfulness, teasing, laughing, hugging, kissy face, dancing, singing, hockey playing self.

It simply amazes me that our R is 2yrs. I still consider him my baby until I really look at him and see that he is a size 3T, 30 some pound, 32 inch tall little boy, with sparkling blue eyes, kissable round cheeks and a big, fluffy little-man hands.

He has had a dynamic year. One of seizures, meds, hospitalizations, tests, diagnosis, a little camping, trips to both grandparents, swimming, playgroup, speech therapy, copying his big brother's adventures, falling in love with Elmo, Baby Einstein, & Mighty Machines, asking for books, eating anything and nothing at meals, becoming our hockey guy, sliding down the big slide all my himself, counting to 10, snuggling, running away and all that comes with being Two!

We love our Bup....through and through and look forward to what this year brings.
Yay for an Elmo & friends cake!

Birthday friends! Miss E & R celebrating their birthdays together with a yummy bday cupcake.

Friends are the best way to celebrate!

Handsome blue eyes, a little smile, and a cone cake too.

What a super day!

Happy 2 Bup!

Our family birthday celebration was at Heritage Park. Bup enjoyed his first carasel ride, then promptly fell asleep on the boat-swing. We hadn't even been at the park for half an hour! Birthdays are tiring! Sweet sleep Birthday Boy!
