Sick & Tired

We're still sick.
We're still tired.
Our household has ear infections, lung infections, eye infections, coughs, runny noses, sneezes, and mucous everywhere. Bleck! Yesterday my black t-shirt was slimed by a sad little boy which meant my shirt was testimony to the festival of mucous we are living with. Bleck!
However, we have been to the doctor, the chiropractor, the pharmacy and the health food store so here's hoping that it's safe to assume all of these will work and we will soon be the picture of health.

The Owl's Nest

This household misses a sweet, long, uninterrupted sleep. We are all deprived to some degree and some more than others. Definately the mother's more than others. Between coughing, crying, demands to open the dairy bar, more coughing, bad dreams, and shoving Fisherman's Friends into my favorite husband's mouth while he is sleeping/coughing I am in need of a good night's sleep. It cures everything, and would most certainly help my attitude, patience level and interest in the world around me. My family would thank me. What I would give to check into a hotel alone for a weekend of sleep.
This lack of sweet sleep all started with the cold season here at the H house. However, W has learned some bad habits throughout this. He used to be the best sleeper ever! Bedtime never included a fuss but now he's used to getting up after being put to bed and will try anything to do so. His latest is a request for "Piece of toast?" Today at nap time I hadn't even layed him in his crib yet and those three words were across his lips. Nice try little one one! He's also started requesting the other parent. B tucks him in and he asks for Momma, I "tuck his toes" and he asks for Daddy as "Daddy's home!" Well, Daddy may be home, but the toaster is broken and we're fresh out of bread. Now, where are the Fisherman's friends?

Boys Will Be Boys

Yesterday W was playing all too quietly. Upon checking I found his bedroom door shut (always a tip-off that something is up) and this scene was behind the door. It was kind of hard not to laugh!

Too cute! Just like his dad.

The ever-cute Baby R. Happy to play in the saucer.

5 Months

The babe is growing so quickly. I can hardly believe he's 5 months old already! I remember being pregnant thinking..."at 4mths the baby will be doing this..." and now we're only a month away from starting solids, breastfeeding is almost half over! It's all moving much, much too quickly.

Little R is a delight. He continues to be content and easy to please. Smiles quite easily and gives a little half giggle when tickled. Of course, blowing bubbles are the highlight of his day and he can often be heard/seen blowing spit bubbles. "Tummy time" is a waste of time because as soon as you lay him on his tummy he rolls over within seconds.

Little R has the most kissable cheeks! I'm certain he wishes we would let up on the kissing, but how can we resist? We love our littlest man.

The New Yoga

On Monday night while showcasing my fairshare scarf that I had recently
completed knitting with recycled Sari Silk, my neices made fun of me for knitting. Scoff, scoff, gasp..."You KNIT!?"
Me: "Yes, knitting is the new yoga" To quote the funny Crazy Aunt Purl.
Surprisingly enough, I truly enjoy knitting. Not that I'm any good at it. I'm still the garter stitch girl. Even purling is beyond me at the moment as I somehow manage to increase my stitches when attempting to purl. Knit 1, Purl 2 somehow results in double the stitches for me. My oyster is out of control!
A knitting cohort introduced me to this book recently. The projects are quick, easy and funky. Perfect for me!
So watch out sassy neices, because I think you're ALL receiving the pom-pom boa for Christmas!

26 Months

Toddler hood is becoming more fun and humorous all the time. Lately W's language skills have exploded. It's cute and funny (not to forget dangerous) to hear him repeating everything we say and mimicking body language as well. He loves to count and has started naming colors as well, such as the traffic lights..."Green ....get moving!". Dr. Seuss is the author of choice these days and he's often heard quoting the master of storytelling throughout the day. "Stop! Not hop Pop!" To witness how his mind works is amazing at times, for instance his method of differentiating between the two grandmothers. "Gam Oh Doe!" is B's mom because she has deer (Oh Doe!) in her yard and home and "Gam Coocoo or Gam TootToot" is my mom based on her cuckoo clock and train clock. Ha!
We love our little man. The little man who loves to play, run, climb, jump, dance and sing. The same one who has a temper and can express it very well. Who is also the fella to give big hugs, kisses and snuggle in for story time or a song. How blessed we are.

Doctor, doctor, can't you see I'm burnin' yearnin'...

Oh, the lovely cold season is here. A couple of weeks ago the ever present runny nose cold was in our household for the Littles. It seemed to have left us but alas this was only a teaser. It just subsided to make room for the dry, hacking cough variety and a possible eye infection. So, we're trying this for W and it seems to really help. Next it's off to the doctor for Baby Little's eyes. I just feel so badly for them when they're under the weather as they don't know what's going on and can't express themselves. Hopefully with a lot of sleep and late night cuddling sessions we'll all be at %100 again soon...myself included & here's hoping the favorite husband can evade these colds. We need one person healthy in the household!

Good health to you all!
