Thinking Stage: 18 mths

"No I won't and you can't make me"
The Thinking Stage 18mths-36mths.
Apparently, this is the stage W has entered. He's left the "Doing" and progressed to "Thinking", according to the
Terrific Toddlers course my favorite husband and I took in the fall. Does this mean that W will no longer be a "going concern" (as he's been called by others)? I doubt it. Now, he can just THINK about what he's about to DO which will result in more creative antics.
Today was his 18mth appt with the public health nurse. It was confirmed that he is tall for his age (35 in) and average for weight (28.5 lbs....%70). What a trooper he was throughout the immunization process. The first injection brought no response at all but the second was more painful. After a few tears, a cuddle and receiving an information brochure....all was well. Then it was off to the playroom for a well-deserved play where he spent some time waving and knocking at the window to get the receptionist's attention. She was super friendly when checking us in and W did not forget this.

We have a sweet, fun, active little boy who communicates both verbally and with sign language on a regular basis, who loves to climb and run, play "boo", laugh, giggle, consume cucumbers even with the peel on, "drink" out of his daddy's go-cup upon B's return from work with a loud "Mmmm!", watch animals and mimic their sounds, push any button, dial any phone, go down the slide at the pool, and race naked around the house at any given chance (this is far and few between due to the dire need for diapers at all times!), give hugs and noisy kisses sometimes on request but usually at his own leisure, and generally any amazing toddler talent that only his parents are completely enamoured with.

Sometimes his mother is really tired, and has to remember that patience is a virtue but ALWAYS she is proud and amazed that he is hers.
