Cardiology Update

First, many thanks to all of you for the prayers and positive thoughts while Bup was having his cardiology work-up yesterday. And guess what? They worked!

The news we received was almost the best we could have hoped for. Our little man has two tiny, tiny benign tumors, rhabdomyomas, on the lower wall of his heart between the two chambers. Really tiny! 2mm each. These are not interfering with his heart's function at all. His heart is perfectly formed (other than these abnormal growths, which is what a tumor is) and is functioning just fine other than a faint murmur which we knew he had. Despite all of this, he was still sent home wearing a heart monitor to further asses for abnormalities. The little trooper! He did not once tug at the wires or fuss with them at all! Of course, undergoing the ultrasound and EKG was a different response. There were lots of tears and struggling to get off the bed combined with a few giggles. Baby Einstein DVDs are a wonderful thing! As is listening to your own heartbeat. Every time the tech would play the sound of his heart out loud, R would stop crying long enough to let a little giggle out. It was too cute.

Oh! And the EKG tech, told B & I that Bup is the "most enormous baby ever! He looks at least 2yrs old. Was he a big baby at birth?" B laughed when I said no (8lbs13oz is small to me).

Yes, it still tugs at my heart that our baby has more tumors albeit small, benign and harmless. It's just wrong and scary. Aren't these feelings normal? I would think for any parent.

However, all in all, we're extremely relieved with the results and ever so grateful. Wuhoo!!:)

  1. I understand that weird place. Of being happy that what is there isn't as bad as it could be. And then feeling silly for being happy...cause it's really sad too! *sigh* I need to think of a special name for that place...instead of always referring to it as the weird place! lol I'm glad the news was good! It's funny...I was thinking naked he looks so skinny! Not big at all!

Anyway...warm thoughts are with you from us today!

  2. Hurray for the good news! I will accept it as just that.
And I agree, they look so small when nekked. It may have something to do with the head to body ratio! ha
    And all the yummy cheekness.

  3. Glad the news was so good. don't need any more wires hooked on to the cute little body. He sure looks trim now - but sure is a good eater though.
